Major Papers Endorsed US Democratic Party's Candidate Clinton

The Enquirer editorial board's endorsement of Hillary Clinton – the first time the paper has supported a Democrat for president in a century – received widespread national attention after the announcement Friday.

It comes on the heels of Clinton endorsements from the Dallas Morning News and Houston Chronicle, also traditionally conservative papers. Several other papers have endorsed Libertarian Gary Johnson. No major papers have endorsed Republican Donald Trump to date.

A roundup of reactions to the Enquirer's position:
The Atlantic mentioned the endorsement Friday among "today's harvest of things that haven't happened in presidential campaigns before."

Vox: "Even more surprising than the Enquirer breaking its streak, though, is that it actually might make a difference. Research has found that when newspapers break with tradition, readers take it seriously. And unlike the other two solidly Republican newspapers that have refused to endorse Trump so far — the Dallas Morning News and the New Hampshire Union Leader — the Enquirer is in a swing state."

NPR: "... It seems The New York Times (which also endorsed Clinton) may actually have less influence on its readership than The Cincinnati Enquirer, at least when it comes to endorsements."
The Washington Post: "This was not the most enthusiastic endorsement Clinton will receive. But the paper did find reasons to compliment the former secretary of state."
Politico, the Washington Examiner, Newsweek and Enquirer media partner Fox19 are among other media who wrote about the endorsement.
